Parallel Text

In the book Jump Ship to Freedom by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier clearly demonstrates that those who aren't put down in the face of disaster have a better chance of surviving that disaster. Even though Daniel is locked in the captain's room, he doesn't lose hope that he will get out of the ship that would sell him to the West Indies. This shows how optimistic he is and that is the kind of person who will keep trying. I would certainly appreciate some one who could not only do that for himself but for others too Daniel's problems resemble those in Freedom on the Menu by C.B. Weatherford. The main character's sister, despite being arrested, goes on protesting for a better tomorrow. This also shows how she is not put down by metal bars and sturdy locks. This is almost the same situation with Daniel. However, they both go fighting for what they think is correct, even with the impossible odds,  and as we all know, slavery was ban and the blacks were given equal rights with rights( though not at the same time).
